Gorham Fire and EMS Explorers

Gorham Fire and EMS runs an Explorer Program to allow students who are 14 and older and graduated from the 8th grade to spend time training and working along side our members. Explorers will received training in Fire and EMS operations and will be cleared to ride along on calls after requirements are met.

Following is the section of our SOGs regarding membership requirements, for further information please contact the Station during normal business hours or speak with your school guidance counselor.

To be eligible for membership, an applicant must:

Be 14 years of age

Complete an Application for Membership

To be a member in good standing, you must:

Provide documentation of a physical exam every 12 months; forms will be provided by the post. 

Maintain a minimum a 2.0 grade point average (GPA). Post members are responsible for providing a copy of their most recent report card to an adviser at the end of each academic quarter. These requirements will be waived during the summer months. Persons no longer enrolled in school will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Have a satisfactory attendance record at Post Functions as outlined in section 2.3.

Post membership shall be limited to a maximum of 15 members.
