Dog Licenses

Every owner or keeper of a dog 4 months old or older shall register the dog annually with the town clerk. At the time of registration the owner will receive a metal tag with the following information – name of the town, year of the issue of the license and its register number.

This tag is to be affixed to the dog’s collar. ~Regardless of when the license is obtained, it shall be effective from May 1 of each year to April 30 of the subsequent year.

Vaccination Required - Before a license is issued the owner or keeper of the dog, must furnish verification that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies.  If a valid rabies certificate is on file with the clerk, the owner shall not be required to produce such verification at the time of license.

Failure to License -  If a dog owner or keeper should fail to license his/her dog in a timely manner, the town clerk shall notify the local law enforcement office of a violation RSA 466:1.


  • $6.50 - puppies 3-7 months old
  • $6.50 - spayed and neutered dogs
  • $2.00 - dogs owned by senior citizens (for first dog only)
  • $9.00 - male/Female
  • $20.00 - group license (5 dog minimum)
