Dog Licensing Rules

DOG LICENSES

*Every owner or keeper of a dog 4 months old or older shall register the dog annually with the Town Clerk. At the time of registration, the owner will receive a metal tag with the following information – name of the town, year of the issue of the license and its registered number.

*This tag is to be affixed to the dog’s collar.  Regardless of when the license is obtained, it shall be effective from May 1 of each year to April 30th of the subsequent year.

*Vaccination Required - Before a license is issued the owner or keeper of the dog, must furnish verification that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies.  If a valid rabies certificate is on file with the clerk, the owner shall not be required to produce such verification at the time of license.

*An additional fee of $1.00 per month will be charged after May 31st, except for newly acquired dog (s) then or after reaching the age of 3 months.

*Failure to License: If a dog owner or keeper should fail to license his/her dog in a timely manner, the Town Clerk shall notify the local law enforcement office of a violation RSA 466:1.

*A civil forfeiture of $25.00 will be imposed after May 31st for any unlicensed dog.

Fees -
$6.50 -  puppies 3-7 months old
$6.50 - spayed and neutered dogs
$2.00 - dogs owned by senior citizens (for first dog only)
$9.00 - male/Female
$20.00 - group license (5 dog minimum)
